“It started out foggy, overcast and depressing this morning but improved during the day and eventually the sun came through. We entered this particular garden for regular maintenance and were welcomed by this wonderful sight. To top it all this Viburnum with masses of dark green foliage and pink-tinged, white flowers filled the whole garden with it’s beautiful fragrance. An absolute delight and joy around every corner. Job satisfaction every time!”

| Tetrapanax Papyrifer Rex |
Ed’s Garden Maintenance Operator Clive sent in his winter maintenance plan for one of his regular gardens. The Musa Basjoos (Hardy Banana) are the two tubular constructions made up of chicken wire stuffed with straw and then wrapped in fleece the Tetrapanax papyrifer ‘rex’ is the thin one wrapped in fleece. The Melianthus Major dominates the bed now that everything else barring Euphorbia pasteuri is either wrapped up, cut back or mulched with a good layer of compost. The less hardy heavily mulched plants are Canna Durbans, Dahlia Bishop of Llandaff and Hedychium Taras. Whilst Eupotarium rugosum ‘Chocolate’. Rudbeckias (fulgida and goldstrum) and Helenium Moerheim beauty’s are all cut back awaiting Spring. The annual Ricinis has been removed after the first frost, new ones will be sown in mid spring along with Tithonias. Once we get a particularly heavy frost the Melianthus will turn to mush but is root hardy and will be cut back then. Please contact Ed’s Garden Maintenance for your gardening needs.
